About  Dr. Darlene Townsend

The Full Story

Dr. Darlene Townsend is a native New Yorker who truly reverences the awesomeness of the Almighty God. She was employed full-time as the director of state and federally funded programs at the Greater Allen Cathedral of New York where the Rev. Dr. Floyd H. Flake was her pastor.

In her later years in New York, the Lord shifted her to a deliverance ministry where her spiritual father was late Pastor John H. Boyd, Sr. While there, she became the full- time administrator to the assistant pastor, John H. Boyd, II, special assistant to the Dean of New Greater Bethel Bible Institute, and the liaison for Shekinah International (the former gospel recording company for Juanita Bynum and Valerie Boyd).

For many years, Dr. Townsend served faithfully in both ministries in various capacities including music, youth, auxiliaries, and leadership. She received her secular education from Howard University and Miami University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees, respectively. Her theological studies resulted in a bachelor’s degree from Vision International University, Master and Doctor of Ministry in Theology from Life Christian University. Throughout her years of advanced learning, Dr. Townsend walked in the Word and “studied to show herself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15). As such, she was the recipient of numerous honors and awards for her outstanding achievement in biblical studies.

Dr. Townsend is a former Professor of Christian Education and English Composition who is dedicated to writing with excellence! Her writings are the true inspiration of the Holy Spirit – for, without His leading, these pages would be blank. During this pandemic season, Dr. Townsend was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write a book entitled, Voices of Victory – Discernment Over Disillusionment. He reminded her of the victories we will experience in our lifetime. This phrase is so full of revelation and ideologies from everyday life encounters to help us understand and trace the emergence of these voices.

We are all bombarded with voices in our external as well as internal environments every day. We all have some types of external noises entering our ear gates or eye gates in our home, cars, or through mobile devices. Technology has invented a myriad of gadgets which make it conveniently and quickly accessible at our fingertips to opt out of reality at the tap of a button to hear another voice(s). We can listen to soothing music, the news, a podcast, a talk show, a movie, favorite tunes, and the list goes on.

The key is to know which voices to acknowledge, ignore and/or delete; and the necessity of response-time, meaning now or later. We cannot devalue the power of words because they will impact us one way or another. The Bible clearly tells us in Proverbs 18:21 AMP that Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words. Tuning into the voices of wisdom and tuning out unwanted voices of self- glorification and the like can be challenging to say the least. Without the help of the Holy Spirit, we will be overwhelmed, tossed to and fro by the voices of the enemy, and floundering in his webs of deception.

The LORD has also equipped and anointed her to move prophetically in dance and flags. Over the years, she has ministered in plays, special events, weddings, facilitated conferences, and conducted extended workshop training to dance ministries locally and out of state. As the minister of dance tunes into the leading of the Holy Spirit, their movements will release an authoritative and powerful message that surpasses our human intellect. These intentional movements can communicate nonverbal messages with intensity of victory, jubilance, reverence, and thankfulness beyond our limited vernacular no matter how expansive.

The ministry of prophetic dance and flags under the captive audience of heaven is a force to be reckoned with as well as an amazing privilege to glorify God and bless His people.
